Renault has unveiled a new offer for its latest model with a new Relationship Breakdown Cover which will guarantee a couple their money back if they split up.

The new Renault Scenic E-Tech is the French brand’s latest 100 per cent electric model and comes equipped with an impressive 379-mile battery range and up to 220 horsepower.

With a price point of £37,495, Renault has called the SUV the “perfect car for relationship bliss”, as well as being crowned the European Car of the Year.

The carmaker is so confident in the “perfect family car” that Renault has said it will give owners their money back if they split up after buying one, with the brand attempting to crack down on “in-car friction”.

Renault described the EV as the ‘perfect family car’

The bold promise is available to all retail cash buyers before the end of 2024 and follows research that found many drivers get into fights with fellow passengers over driving matters.

One-fifth (21 per cent) of Britons said that taking the wrong direction causes the most arguments between them and their partner, while a further 20 per cent said it was due to their partner’s driving style.

Women (23 per cent) said they were more likely to be irritated by poor navigation than men (19 per cent), while men (20 per cent) were more annoyed by poor driving skills than women (19 per cent).

Despite this, 48 per cent of men consider themselves a better driver than their partner, compared to just 32 per cent of women.

The Relationship Breakdown Cover (RBC) guarantees that if someone suffers a divorce or a dissolution of a civil partnership, they will be entitled to return their Renault Scenic based on certain terms.

It is only available for people who purchased a Renault Scenic as an individual personal purchase from our Authorised Renault Dealer Network between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024.

People must provide a Decree Nisi dated at least one month after the purchase of their Renault Scenic, with names identical to the sales contract with the car brand.

When the Scenic is returned, they will be refunded the full cash price they paid for the vehicle on the date of return, although money can be taken from the total if there is damage or stickers are added.

The Scenic E-Tech was ranked first in the EcoCar Electrified Car of the Year, as well as winning the Erin Baker Award at the Auto Trader New Car Awards 2024.

Commenting at the time of its release, Guillaume Sicard, managing director of Renault Brand UK, praised the vehicle, as well as the launch of the 270hp Comfort range version with a 260-mile battery range.

He said: “Renault is committed to democratising EV ownership and introducing the new 60kWh battery Comfort Range version was a logical decision, bringing our latest all-electric SUV within reach of a wider array of car buyers.

“With a range of up to 260 miles, it offers a great blend of value and usability to all customers, whether private, business or purchasing via Motability.”
