Most Britons will be gearing up for a well-earned holiday this summer and, while staycations are popular options, many people will be going abroad.

Experts have rounded up the spots where Britons can get a taste of home while in another country.

Those looking for some British cuisine or English-speaking activities should head to Paris, according to research by Ibiza Summer Villas.

The French capital ranked highest overall as people generally speak good English and restaurants will often cater to British tastes, the experts claimed.

The experts added: “Paris ranks highest as a destination where British travellers can immerse themselves in familiar comforts while enjoying the allure of a world-renowned city.

“The availability of British cuisine in its restaurants ensures that those longing for traditional British dishes won’t be disappointed. Moreover, the city’s extensive English language prevalence makes communication effortless for Britons, providing a seamless travel experience.

“With many English-speaking activities – from guided tours of the Louvre to performances at English-speaking theatres – Paris offers both cultural enrichment and comfort.

“The moderate rainfall also adds a touch of familiar British weather, making Paris an ideal blend of home and abroad.”

While Britons often look to Spain for some fun in the sun, the only Spanish spot to make it into the top 10 was Benidorm, at number 6.

However, it did rank highest for the number of restaurants offering British cuisine, and it is not uncommon to find somewhere to enjoy fish and chips or a full English by the beach in Benidorm.

This was followed by Paris, which had the second-highest number of restaurants offering food for Britons, the research suggested.

Positano in Italy came in 5th overall but was the best place if looking for an activity that caters to English speakers.

This comes as research found the best countries for expats to move to as it offers affordable living and a “laidback lifestyle”.
