Marcus Rashford scored with a stunning long-range strike to give Manchester United the lead against Manchester City.
The 26-year-old has come under huge scrutiny from fans and pundits for his performances this season.
Erik ten Hag’s side had started the Manchester derby on the back foot as the home side dominated possession in the opening exchanges.
But against the run of play, Rashford put United in front and silenced his critics with a powerful strike from 25-yards after a layoff from Bruno Fernandes.
Gary Neville, who was on commentary for Sky Sports, said: Neville: ‘That’s the best way to answer everybody, smash one in the net from 25 yards.
‘Ake allows Fernandes to get in behind. It’s a 1 in 20, 1 in 30 chance that you think Rashford is going to beat Ederson from there. It’s a beauty from Manchester United’s number ten.’
Former striker and Match of The Day presenter Gary Linkeer took to social media to praise Rashford. He posted: ‘What a superb goal from @MarcusRashford, while Rio Ferdinand simply said, ‘RASSSSHYYYYYY’.
United fans were also quick to react to the goal on X. One wrote: ‘OMG WTF FAIRS RASHFORD’.
A second fan said: ‘RASHFORD OMG THAT IS THE GREATEST STRIKE IVE EVER SEEN WTF FIRST TIME TOOO’.
‘Marcus Rashford, omg what a goal,’ a third United supporter added.
