Harry Potter star Jessie Cave has announced she is launching an OnlyFans account.
The 37-year-old actress told her 217,000 followers the news on Instagram, in a jokey reel with her partner comedian Alfie Brown.
Cave, who played Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter films, has said she will not be posting explicit sexual content on the subscription site, but will instead be posting content centred on her hair.
She also tells Brown, who is offscreen in the video, that she won’t be getting her feet or her bum out.
Cave’s bio on the site reads: “Former Harry Potter actress, writer, doodler and now Only Fans Long Hair Specialist. I do NICHE HAIR CONTENT which you may well quite like. How magical!
“If you have a hair thing, this is the place for you. If you want something specific, you can message me and I will be happy to see what we can do.”
Comedian Katherine Ryan commented on the reel, saying that it was “a very very very good idea” next to a money bag emoji.
Another fan commented saying they “[couldn’t] tell if you’re joking. Either way I support this”.
Last year, musician Kate Nash announced she was making the move to OnlyFans as touring has become so expensive for artists.
“The costs of recording, releasing and touring a record in the same year no longer make financial sense,” she wrote for the Standard.
“I saw artists posting that even if they were to drive the van themselves, they could not financially make touring work.
“I did it by playing festivals all summer, saving up a nest egg and putting all of that money into touring.
“Even that didn’t end up being enough. I started an OnlyFans account in November and am now selling pictures of my arse online to subsidise touring losses.”
Lily Allen is another creative who is also on the site, who has previously revealed she finds the side hustle “empowering”. She has also said she makes more money from OnlyFans than she does as a singer.
Allen has also defended the lucrative gig after facing backlash from some fans on social media.
“Imagine being one of the biggest pop stars/musicians in Europe and then being reduced to this,” one wrote.
Allen responded: “Imagine being an artist and having nearly eight million monthly listeners on Spotify but earning more money from having 1,000 people subscribe to pictures of your feet.”
