FA Cup semi-final draw simulated… Coventry City handed Premier League opposition while winner of Manchester United vs Liverpool also face difficult path

  •  Still two FA Cup quarter-final ties to be played
  •  Coventry and Manchester City booked their place with wins on Saturday
  • Follow all of Sunday’s action including the draw right here – Chelsea vs Leicester

At the start of the FA Cup quarter-finals weekend, eight clubs could see the arch of Wembley in the distance.

For four of the teams, they will make their way to home of English football, while the other four find themselves left by the wayside.

On Saturday, two of the clubs booked their places in the next round in very different fashions.

Championship side Coventry travelled to Molineux underdogs, expected to be swept aside, but two injury time goals saw them pull off the upset.

For Manchester City it was far less dramatic, two deflected first-half goals from Bernardo Silva saw them ease into the next round.

There are still two ties left to play as Chelsea host Leicester and Liverpool travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.

But who awaits the winners of those ties in the next round? Mail Sport simulated the semi-final draft to see who they could potentially face.

Manchester City vs Coventry

Coventry will be making their way to Wembley Stadium for the fourth time in seven years after their victory over Wolves.

Last season’s trip saw them come within a single kick of earning promotion to the Premier League as they lost in a penalty shootout to Luton Town.

But their reward this year according to the simulated draft is a tie with a side looking to repeat the treble they pulled off last year.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are hitting the usual heights we see from them at this point of the season.

They swept Copenhagen aside in the Champions League round-of-16 and are third in the Premier League just a single point behind Arsenal in the league.

A tie with Coventry City may provide them with the clearest opportunity to make their second FA Cup final in as many years.

But Mark Robins’ side should be full of confidence and could be very dangerous in what would be somewhat of a free hit.

Chelsea or Leicester City vs Manchester United or Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool would have to go through either Chelsea or Leicester to keep their quadruple dreams alive should they beat Manchester United

The draw randomiser has left us with the biggest what-if in the tournament with all four teams still in play.

But any combination of results could throw up an exciting semi-final with so many storylines on offer.

A Chelsea vs Manchester United semi-final could potentially see Mason Mount – who has spent so much of the season on the sidelines – return to haunt his former employers.

For Chelsea, a win against either side would provide further evidence that their patience may be paid off in the long run.

And for Leicester, the Championship side seemingly marching back to England’s top division, this current cup run will bring up feelings of when they hoisted the FA Cup back in 2021.

For Manchester United, a semi-final birth would represent some positivity in what has been a difficult season for Erik ten Hag’s side.

And who can forget about Liverpool? They are still on for the quadruple in Jurgen Klopp’s final season with them.

A place in the semi-final would keep the storybook, dream ending alive.
