Antoine Griezmann didn’t mince his words as Alexis Sanchez missed from the spot during a dramatic penalty shootout that saw Atletico Madrid reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
Jan Oblak was the hero as the LaLiga giants beat Inter Milan 3-2 on penalties at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday night.
Hakan Calhanoglu scored and Memphis Depay, whose 87th minute goal rescued Atletico and forced the game to extra-time, emphatically scored the first two penalties.
The Serie A giants then blinked first as Sanchez sent a tame effort down the middle, which Oblak parried.
As the Atletico players celebrated, Griezmann, who was watching on from the bench, turned to Rodrigo De Paul shouting ‘He [Sanchez] is s**t, the Chilean is s**t!’

The exchange was captured by Movistar Plus cameras, which were filming the penalties from the opposite side of the ground.
After Sanchez’s miss, Yann Sommer saved from Saul before Oblak produced his second save of the shootout as he pushed away Davy Klaassen’s kick.
Rodrigo Riquelme scored and so did Francesco Acerbi, before Angel Correa blasted Atletico’s fourth penalty past Sommer and Inter captain Lautaro Martinez skied his effort to send the hosts through.
‘In the end it’s a bit about luck in the shootout,’ Oblak said.
‘Because you have to choose the correct side and you have to make the stop. If the player takes the kick perfectly, it’s impossible to stop it.
‘Luckily, I was able to make the saves. What matters is the victory and that we made it to the quarter-finals.’
Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Atletico found themselves behind as Federico Dimarco put last season’s Champions League finalists ahead in the first half, only for Griezmann to restore parity two minutes later.
The Frenchman had come back from an injury sustained in the first leg to score his sixth Champions League goal of the season putting him joint top scorer with Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane.
‘It was moving,’ Simeone said.
‘I’m happy for the players and for the fans. We are among the best eight teams in Europe again. That says a lot about this club.’

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi conceded his side, who had arrived at the Metropolitano enjoying a 13-game winning streak and were unbeaten in their last 15 consecutive games in all competitions, would look back on the result as a missed opportunity.
‘We must be proud of what we did in this Champions League,’ he said.
‘In the second half we should have done better. In extra time we had more energy but unfortunately we made too many mistakes.’
