A young girl with cancer who met Princess Kate has completed her dream bucket list wish as she participates in a professional shoot with models.

Liz Hatton,16, said fulfilling her dreams has helped take her mind off her terminal illness.

The teenager, who has a rare and aggressive form of cancer and has dropped her formal studies in favour of following her dream of photography, hailed her passion for photography as a way to “not get stuck in a rut” thinking about her illness.

On Tuesday, she took part in a shoot with models from the Storm Management agency.

Liz, from Harrogate in North Yorkshire, said: “Whenever I do photography, I find it a lot easier to take my mind off things and distract myself from the pain and stuff like that.

“Obviously, living with a terminal illness there is a lot of pain, a lot of not very great stuff that comes with it, but having other stuff to focus on really helps because you don’t have to think about that and you don’t end up getting stuck in a rut thinking about it.”

Earlier this month, she was invited by the Prince and Princess of Wales to take pictures of royal investitures at Windsor Castle.

Liz praised Princess Kate for being so “warm and genuine” with her and her family and told GB News she was “in awe” of the royal couple.

She said: “I think I speak for my entire family when I say we were just shell-shocked when they walked into the room.

“Most of the day we were pretty much just in awe as they walked around for the whole time.”

Liz described herself as “beyond lucky” to have been given the opportunity.

She added: “If you’d have told me a year ago that anything like this would have happened, then I wouldn’t have believed you for a minute.

Liz continued: “I’m just beyond lucky that even though I have been dealt this bad hand of cancer, I’ve also got a good hand because it’s meant that I’ve been offered all these new and exciting opportunities that I wouldn’t have got to experience necessarily otherwise.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a photo of them with Liz and her family, as well as Kate and the 16-year-old sharing a hug.
