Two Italian cities ranked highly on the list with Milan and Rome in the number one and number two spot.

Milan ranked as the worst city to move to based on difficulties in finding housing.

“Dealing with bureaucracy, opening a local bank account and securing a visa all pose challenges for expats,” the report said.

It found a third of expats in Mila “aren’t happy” with their social lives, and while 63 per cent found the locals friendly, many did not feel at home.

Rome ranked among the worst for working abroad index, personal finance, quality of life, admin topics and difficulty living there without speaking the language.
