Lucy Rees, 33, from Newport, Wales, shed 4st in six months during her incredible weight loss journey.

The slimmer credited various lifestyle changes for her transformation.

Lucy had never struggled with her weight, keeping active by regularly walking, however she noticed the pounds pile on during and after her pregnancy in November 2020.

She crept up to a size 22, often tucking into unhealthy snacks on the go and reducing the amount of exercise she did.

She reduced her appetite and lost weight

However, when a doctor prescribed her weight loss medication, Lucy noticed her appetite change. She stopped overeating and saw the weight fall off.

The mother-of-one explained: “Before I had my daughter I was 5ft 3in and a size 12 to 14. I’d never been to the gym and felt lucky to have a decent figure, something that was probably down to the fact that I couldn’t drive so I had to walk everywhere.

“I wasn’t skinny, I had a small waist but bigger bottom, but I looked healthy and could buy clothes that fitted. But then in November 2020 I fell pregnant with my first child after two years of trying. Despite the fact that I wasn’t eating much more during pregnancy, I ballooned.”

After her child was born, Lucy noticed the weight continued to pile on and she would fill up on processed foods and leftovers for a quick meal.

She said: “I lived on Pot Noodles and Quavers for lunch, but my real weakness was picking at my daughter’s leftovers and snacking on biscuits and a cup of tea in the evening.

“I had learnt to drive by now so I wasn’t walking around as much as I once had done, and despite trying no end of diets I just couldn’t seem to take control of my appetite and lose weight.

“I tried no end of different diets, to no avail, and even went to my GP to find out if there was a problem with my thyroid or something but all the tests came back clear.

“By now I was wearing size 22 clothes and hated how big I had become. It impacted my confidence and made it really hard to shop for clothes. I didn’t have the energy to run around after my daughter either.”

A friend recommended weight loss medication and Lucy had a consultation with a doctor at The Slimming Clinic in February 2024. At the time she weighed 17st 1lb, despite being just 5ft 3in tall.

This helped reduce her appetite and Lucy cut out many of her unhealthy snacking habits.

She explained: “I was prescribed Phentamine, which I started to take one tablet a day, every morning.

“Almost instantly I noticed that I didn’t feel as hungry as I previously did. And now instead of spending the day snacking on my daughter’s leftovers, I didn’t think twice about putting them in the bin.

The slimmer said she is now more confident

“I still ate normally, having something like scrambled eggs and toast for lunch and a proper meal of spaghetti bolognese or a jacket potato with cheese and beans for tea.

“Only now, I didn’t spend the evening snacking on tea and biscuits. The fact that I didn’t feel so hungry meant that my portion sizes were smaller too, and soon the weight began to drop off.

“I had regular check-ins with the doctor to reassess how I was doing and make sure there didn’t need to be any changes to the medication.”

Within months, the 33-year-old slimmed to 13st 1lb and a healthy size 14. She has not only lost weight but has “more energy than I’ve had in years”.

She added: “I can also shop for clothes wherever I like and I feel more confident about how I look. I just wish I’d started sooner.”
