Woman knocked out by Waitrose cauliflower blasts ‘insulting’ response by supermarket: ‘It’s ruining my life!’

Sammi Mai has told GB News that a recent incident in a Waitrose supermarket is “ruining her life”, after she was knocked out by a cauliflower.

The 42-year-old housewife was left needing hospital treatment after visiting their Bath store, having bent down to look through the reduced section of produce.

The cauliflower knocked Sammi to the floor causing concussion, after falling from a shelf she claims was around “6ft taller than me”.

Speaking to GB News, Mai expressed her outrage at the response from Waitrose, after offering her a £25 voucher and another £8 to cover her taxi fare home.

Mai told host Patrick Christys: “I went to Bath on holiday, and one evening I went to Waitrose to do some shopping, and when I went to the bargain section, I bent down to look at the bottom of the shelf at some items.

“Suddenly a really large and heavy item fell down on the top of my head, and hit my head. I fell and when I woke up, I was suffering concussion and was knocked out.”

In disbelief at the incident, Patrick was shocked and noted how Mai is still angry at Waitrose over their response.

Mai revealed: “I didn’t touch that £25. It was a goodwill gesture, it was an e-voucher sent to my email. I didn’t touch it because I think it is completely insulting.

“I live in Kingston – you think that £8 will get me a taxi back to Kingston from Bath?”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

When asked by Patrick what she believes appropriate action she would want the supermarket to take, Mai declared that she has “no power” to sue them, and so wants “fair compensation”.

Mai explained: “I want to have fair compensation, and for them not take advantage of me, as I am an ordinary person.

“I have no background, no power and so I don’t have money for suing them in the long run.”

Detailing the length of time it took for Waitrose to respond, she added: “They sent me the e-mail after I complained to the customer service department after one month, and they told me they don’t have any legal responsibility for my injury.

“And they sent a second e-mail, saying they don’t have a CCTV footage for that area. That’s not fair for me. That’s not fair.”

Detailing how the incident has impacted her physically, Mai revealed that she is still “suffering from pain and anxiety” as a result.

Mai said: “I’m suffering from pain, I’m suffering from anxiety, I went twice to A&E. It’s just ruining my life.”

A Waitrose spokesperson told GB News: “Our customer was seen immediately by a trained first aider at the time of the accident and we are sorry to hear she is unwell. We take customer safety incredibly seriously and have thoroughly investigated this case – but will consider any new information she wishes to share with us.”
