Hordes of Brits leave the country each year in search of a better life abroad.

Many chase good weather, others are looking for a different lifestyle, and some are seeking happiness they didn’t manage to find in the UK.

But for those looking for the best place to raise their children, relocating to Norway has proved to be a solid choice.

New research has found the Scandinavian country was also the happiest spot for expats.

The study considered various factors including crime, healthcare access, education and average earnings to determine the best place for families to relocate to.

The analysis of 20 different aspects found Norway came out top, scoring 71.73 out of 100.

An impressive 94.06 per cent of families living there expressed how they were happy.

This puts Norway 11 per cent above the average in Europe, which is 84.76 per cent.

Meanwhile, maternal mortality rate in the country is a whopping 81 per cent lower than Europe’s average of 6.88, at 1.31 per 100,000 live births.

What’s more, children are typically healthy and well in Norway with the under-15 mortality rate being low, at just 0.31 per cent.

Residents live a long time too, as the study by moving company Umzug-365 revealed Norwegian life expectancy is 83.31 years – above the 80.5 years average in Europe.

Norway has repeatedly placed high for happiness, with a study released last year by the World Happiness Report ranking the country in seventh place.

In the most recent report, Finland ranked highest and scored 67.79 overall, followed by Denmark in second, Iceland in third and Sweden in fourth.

The UK landed in 23rd position while the USA fell to its lowest ever position in 24th place.

Both countries landed behind Israel (8th) despite the ongoing conflict in the region.

Afghanistan was once again the unhappiest happiest country in the world.

Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi and Zimbabwe rounded off the bottom five.

A spokesperson from Umzug-365 commented: ‘Raising a family depends on a huge range of factors relating to things like health, education, wellbeing, income, crime, and more.

‘Countries like Norway, Finland and Sweden consistently rank highly in each of these categories, highlighting them as ideal locations for family life.

‘Many of the top-ranking countries are in Northern Europe, with five of the top ten countries located here.’
