Considering a warm, sunny break overseas this Easter? Get ready to pack your bags and escape to one of 10 destinations where you’re almost guaranteed warm sunshine.

By using the new Sun-Reliability Index, which ranks destinations on the likelihood of sun and dry weather, travellers can confidently book trips without fear of unpredictable April weather.

The Index, launched by easyJet holidays, gathers climate data from the last 25 years to determine the holiday hotspots with the most reliable weather, looking at average temperature highs, hours of sunshine per day and the chance of rain.

Topping the list for April is Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, which boasts average daily temperatures of up to 30C, up to 11 hours of sunshine a day, and a 98 per cent guarantee of dry or sunny days.

In Egyptian resort city, travellers can take enjoy package holidays starting at £659, where they can take advantage of the good weather by snorkelling, visiting water parks, and embark on desert safaris and glass-bottom boat trips.

Following in second place is Sal (Santa Maria) in Cape Verde, which offers sun-seekers average temperatures of 25C, around nine hours of sunshine every day less than a 5 per cent chance of rain.

Despite package holidays starting at around £799, this African getaway offers great value with dependable sunshine, unique salt flats, boat excursions, and long sandy beaches, making the cost worthwhile for a memorable trip.

Ranking in third place is Gran Canaria, where the chance of rain per day ranges from 5 per cent to 15 per cent, and, in fourth, Tenerife, which bathes in 23C temperatures as the UK just about comes out of its winter slumber.

Not far geographically from the Canaries, the Moroccan coast can be found. In Agadir, travellers can expect sandy beaches, waves perfect for surfing, and temperatures of 24C.

Further down south, Marrakesh falls in seventh place with temperatures of 27C, making it the perfect time to explore the city’s bustling souks, relax in an airy riad, or visit its striking Atlas Mountains.

Perfect for history buffs and sun worshippers alike, Paphos in Greece also ranks highly in the index.

With around 87 per cent of its April days boasting reliable sunshine and temperatures in the 20s, families can explore the UNESCO site, Tombs of the Kings, where archaeological excavations are still being carried out.

Destinations such as Portugal’s ever-popular Algarve and Sicily off the Southern coast of Italy also provide the perfect holiday escape, where the sun-reliability index percentage sits firmly in the 80s.

For bargain-loving holidaymakers, Faro in the Algarve provides perfect conditions for warm coastal walks in temperatures of 22C – and package holidays are ranked cheapest on the list, priced from £389.

Similarly, easy hikes and crater views of Mount Etna are perfect pastimes in Sicily, where travellers can enjoy up to nine hours of sunshine a day.

Stuart Wright, Customer Director at easyJet holidays, said: ‘After making it through the dark winter months, we know many of our customers are relying on April’s Easter break to catch up on some much-needed vitamin D.
