A fascinating reworked map has revealed the most popular jobs around the world – and being a pilot is the globe’s number one dream job in 2025.
On the map, countries have been colour-coded to indicate the jobs their residents most want information about with a view to taking up that career.
The phrase ‘how to be a pilot‘ was searched 432,360 times on Google during 2024, with the search top in Egypt, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
According to the research, by financial services provider Remitly, the second most popular job on the planet is attorney, with 393,380 searches worldwide. The legal career is the top search in many countries including France, Brazil, China and Spain.
Being a police officer comes third (272,730) worldwide and is the No.1 dream career in both South Korea and Poland.
In England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, ‘how to be a YouTuber‘ (13th worldwide, 171,840), is the most popular career search and it also tops the list in Singapore, Indonesia and Fiji.

Flight attendant comes top in the USA (17th worldwide, 154,810) and is also the most desirable career in Jamaica and Barbados.
Jobs in the health sector also prove popular with pharmacist (4th worldwide/272,630/top in Japan) and nurse (5th worldwide, 248,720) rounding off the top five dream careers.
Physical therapist comes sixth in the ranking (244,050), midwife comes seventh (227,010) and prosecutor eighth (220,870, top in Turkey).
The rest of the top 10 is made up of actor (ninth/199,150/top in Austria) and judge (tenth, 198,450).
While it fails to make the top 20 global job searches, ‘how to be a DJ‘ (109,650) is the No.1 career search in Australia, Canada, Ireland, India and New Zealand.

In Central America, attorney (2nd worldwide, 393,380) is incredibly popular and the top searched career in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Dominican Republic
In Europe, both Italy and Bulgaria are searching for jobs outside the global top 20, with fitness trainer (70,180 worldwide) topping the list of dream careers in Italy and taxi driver top in Bulgaria.
Professor (12th worldwide, 175,420) tops the list in Portugal, Belgium and Germany, while Wales bucks the YouTuber trend in the UK with paramedic (20th worldwide, 136,820) ranking as its top search.
In Central America, attorney (2nd worldwide, 393,380) is incredibly popular and the top searched career in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Dominican Republic.

‘How to be a content creator‘ (52,360) is a leading choice in Africa, topping the list in Nigeria, Cameroon and Tanzania, while other creative careers such as blogger and author also feature.
Although entrepreneur fails to make the top 20 worldwide, it’s the most popular choice in Cote D’Ivoire, Angola, Republic of Congo, Congo, Madagascar, Gabon, Guinea and Senegal.

Jordan bucks the legal trend in the region with ‘how to be a footballer‘ (95,950), the No.1 dream career for residents.
Papua New Guinea’s residents would most like to be creative writers, standing out from the rest of Oceania where DJ and attorney are the top choices.
