Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe has praised Nigel Farage’s recent address at Blenheim Palace, describing the historic venue as “totemic of this country.”

Speaking to GB News, Lowe highlighted the location’s significance, noting its connections to Winston Churchill, whom he counts among his political heroes.

The Great Yarmouth MP celebrated Farage’s return to frontline politics in striking terms, stating: “I think it was very important that we brought the Messiah back.”

Lowe credited Farage’s previous role in the European Parliament, while also acknowledging Sir James Goldsmith’s contribution through his 1997 Referendum Party, which he claimed led to major parties promising an EU membership referendum.

The Reform UK MP said that Farage made “very powerful points” in his Blenheim address, noting that Reform’s group of five MPs had now “built the bridgehead”.

Lowe has reflected on his challenging transition into politics at the age of 66, describing it as “a pretty tough year.”

Speaking to GB News, Lowe discussed taking on two elections and embarking on a new career path at this stage in his life. Lowe emphasised his focus on promoting transparent Government through his parliamentary role.

“What I’m trying to do is use my position to get the data and then give it to people and let them decide, because after all, they’re the master, parliament is the servant,” he explained.

Lowe emphasised that Reform UK’s future development would require a team effort, with Farage at its helm.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

“If Reform is going to mature, with Nigel at the head, we need a group of people, like minded people to whom authority and power is delegated,” he told GB News.

He was critical of the current political landscape, particularly the two-party system. “It’s quite clear to me that the two cheeks of the same backside, as George Galloway described them, it’s a very weak gene pool,” Lowe stated.

The Reform UK MP suggested that significant changes were needed to reform what he described as “a two-party system that’s failing.”

Lowe offered candid observations about the physical conditions within Parliament, describing it as “a bit like a black hole”.

He detailed the challenges of having 650 MPs confined in a tight space with poor air circulation, which he suggested created ideal conditions for spreading illness.

The Reform UK MP revealed he had been suffering from “a terrible cold over Christmas,” attributing it partly to Parliament’s cramped conditions.

“It definitely is a building which needs some updating,” Lowe stated. He called for updates to both “the building” and “the people who inhabit it.”

Reflecting on his parliamentary experience overall, Lowe concluded: “It’s been a fascinating experience,” while maintaining his modest approach of “trying to bring some common sense back to the UK.”
