Speaking to GB News, Tominey said: “I was honoured to interview Alastair and his lovely wife Sal for what proved to be an incredibly moving conversation about dementia and the profound impact it has had, not just on this broadcasting legend but the entire Stewart family.

“I am so grateful that this important interview, raising awareness of a disease that affects one in three people in Britain, has been nominated for a TRIC Award.

“I know we are up against stiff competition – but I hope voters can find it in their hearts to recognise Al’s courage and bravery in making his diagnosis so public in the hope of helping the million people in the UK currently suffering with dementia.”

“Every year we bring together the TV, radio and online industries to celebrate the best of British entertainment – the proceedings on the day will be hosted by our TRIC President, Roman Kemp who will be announcing the winners of the 2024 public vote.”

This year the TRIC Awards will also be supporting two new charities: Starlight, a national children’s charity that exists to champion the importance of play and defend every seriously ill child’s right to it and Joe’s Buddy Line, which provides emotional and mental health support within primary schools.
