Wes Streeting has claimed that the former Health Secretary Victoria Atkins should “say sorry” for the state of the NHS.
Speaking to Isabel and Eammon on GB News this morning Streeting said: “I thought the Shadow Health Secretary showed some brass neck yesterday when she came on your program.
“In fact, when she goes on any programme, the first word she should say is sorry.
“Not just for her failure as the former Health Secretary, but for the failure of 14 years of conservative government that led the NHS to the worst crisis in its history.
“It failed patients and wasted taxpayers money. That’s their record. And I was not prepared to continue to pay the same heavy price for failure.
“That’s why we took that action. I’m looking forward to working with resident doctors, so that they feel optimistic and hopeful and confident about the future of our NHS.”
