From seafood, to Indian delicacies, to traditional Scottish cuisine, restaurants across the UK have plenty to offer.
The top 100 eateries have been revealed by independent restaurant guide SquareMeal.
Using a mixture of thousands of reader votes and insight from critics, a guide of the very best places to dine across the country, excluding London, is formed.
Here’s the full list of the UK’s best restaurants…
1. Wilsons, Bristol
At the very top of SquareMeal’s 2026 guide is Wilsons, in Bristol.
The impressive restaurant was praised for its ‘exceptional’ dishes, as well as low food waste.
What’s more, the establishment has ‘frankly astonishing prices’ and even boasts a Michelin star as well as a Green star – and is one of only a handful of UK restaurants to hold both.

Wilsons opened its doors back in 2016 by partners Jan Ostle and Mary Wilson. The restaurant has its own market garden that grows vegetables, herbs and fruit used in all of its dishes.
On placing first, chef and co-founder Jan says, ‘We feel incredibly honoured to have been named SquareMeal’s UK Restaurant of the Year 2026.
‘This recognition is testament to the dedication of our entire team, the Bristol community that supports us, and the incredible farmers and growers whose produce shapes everything we do.
‘2025 was a landmark year for us at Wilsons, and this feels like the perfect way to begin 2026. We’re so excited for what the year ahead will bring.’
SquareMeal’s restaurants editor, Pete Dreyer, praised Wilsons for its combination of ‘creativity, humility and value’.
He adds, ‘Achieving this from a tiny kitchen and a two-acre farm, without compromising its sustainable, waste-free ideals, is a phenomenal achievement.’
2. Skof, Manchester
Skof in Manchester ranked second in the guide and is described as ‘nothing short of outstanding’.

Skof was ranked at number eight in SquareMeal’s 2025 guide, meaning it has made quite the jump since then.
3. Sat Bains with Rooms, Nottingham
Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms placed third and impressed with its ‘artistic approach’ that creates ‘unique dishes’.
With two Michelin stars under its belt, the Nottingham-based restaurant serves up modern British cuisine.
4. Vraic, Guernsey
Securing a spot in the top five, Vraic, in Guernsey ranked fourth on SqaureMeal’s guide.
The Channel Island restaurant offers ‘seaweed-focused dishes’ and was dubbed ‘the best new opening on this list’.

5. L’Enclume, Cumbria
L’Enclume, in Cumbria, placed fifth with its ‘exceptional dining experience full of surprises and delights’.
6. Grace & Savour, Hampton-in-Arden, West Midlands
Grace & Savour, located in Hampton-in-Arden, West Midlands, ranked sixth.
The restaurant is tucked away in a walled Victorian garden and was SquareMeal’s number one restaurant in 2023.
7. The Greyhound Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire
The Greyhound Beaconsfield, in Buckinghamshire, impressed with its ‘pitch-perfect service to delicious food’.
The gastropub placed seventh and is based inside a characterful old coaching inn.
8. JÖRO, Sheffield
Located in Sheffield, JÖRO came eighth with its menu consisting of a ‘blend of Nordic and Japanese influences’.
9. Pine, East Wallhouses, Northumberland
Pine, in East Wallhouses, Northumberland, is an old cattle barn that’s been transformed ‘into a truly transcendent destination restaurant’.
The eatery ranked ninth overall and even boasts a Michelin star.
10. Moor Hall Restaurant with Rooms, Aughton, Lancashire
Moor Hall Restaurant with Rooms, in Aughton, Lancashire offers ‘unique tasting menus powered by innovation and incredible talent’ and rounds off the top ten.
11. Ynyshir Restaurant and Rooms, Powys
Ynyshir in Powys comes eleventh in the wider UK ranking
At Ynyshir Restaurant and Rooms, in Powys, diners can enjoy dishes cooked up by chef Gareth Ward.
Ranking 11th, SquareMeal describes it as ‘one of the UK’s most unique, unmissable restaurants’.
12. Restaurant 22, Cambridge
Restaurant 22 in Cambridge offers amazing tasting menus and placed 12th overall.
13. Lyla, Edinburgh
Over in Scotland, Edinburgh-based Lyla has an impressive 10-course tasting menu made from foraged and locally-sourced ingredients that landed it in 13th place.
14. Woven by Adam Smith, Ascot
Woven by Adam Smith in Ascot ranked at 14th and wowed with its ‘luxury ingredients’ and ‘healthy dose of playfulness’.

15. Upstairs at Landrace, Bath
Upstairs at Landrace, ranked 15th. It’s a relaxed spot above a bakery in Bath that serves modern European cooking with Mediterranean and Italian influences, focused on perfectly executed, seasonal dishes.
16. Myse, York
In 16th place, Myse offers a refined modern British tasting menu inspired by North Yorkshire’s landscape and food heritage, served in a cosy village setting.
It earns its Top 100 place for thoughtful storytelling, local sourcing and polished, confident cooking.
17. Updown Farmhouse, Kent
Set in the Kent countryside, Updown Farmhouse pairs modern British food with a hyper-seasonal menu, shaped by local and homegrown produce. The restaurant placed 17th overall.

18. Osip, Somerset
Osip is a destination modern British restaurant built around organic farming, technical skill and revolving tasting menus. With prices over £80 and a coveted spot in the top 20, at number 18, it boasts originality, precision and an ambitious approach to fine dining.
19. The Little Chartroom, Edinburgh
The Little Chartroom is a welcoming Edinburgh bistro serving modern Scottish and British dishes with slight French influences in a relaxed neighbourhood setting, securing 19th place.
20. The Kinneuchar Inn, Fife & Angus
Rounding out the top 20 is The Kinneuchar Inn – a 17th-century pub, located in Fife & Angus, serving seasonal British gastropub food, with daily-changing menus that incorporate local estate produce.
