Two huge Hollywood stars were spotted in Wales over the weekend

Shoppers across Wales have had a few surprises this weekend after two Hollywood actors were spotted shopping in different parts of Wales. BAFTA-winning Irish actor Barry Keoghan was recognised by fans while shopping in Merthyr Tydfil, while Golden Globe winner Taron Egerton was seen further west in Aberaeron.

Taron, who was born in Merseyside but grew up in Wales, popped into The Moody Cow Welsh Kitchen & Farm Shop and took a selfie with a member of staff who recognised him. Best known for his roles in the Kingsman films as well as portraying Elton John in the Rocketman biopic, Taron speaks proudly of his Welsh roots and recently told Netflix’s global audience some of his favourite Welsh words and phrases.

Staff at The Moody Cow Welsh Kitchen & Farm Shop said the actor was “really friendly” and “very complementary of their food”. “He was more than happy to have this photo taken,” they added. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter

Barry Keoghan’s appearance is perhaps the most surprising celebrity-spot of the two. The actor, best known for his role in Saltburn was reportedly shopping in Sports Direct in Merthyr Tydfil.

In a photo shared by Tristan Thomas on Facebook, the actor can be seen posing with a smile and his fingers up. Tristan captioned the photo saying: “Just bumped into Barry Keoghan in Merthyr hahaha.”

Plenty of people were surprised that the actor had found himself in Merthyr. One person said: “What on God’s green earth is he doing here?” followed by a series of laughing faces. Another person simply added: “No way!!!”

If you want to hear more about all the celebs that have been spotted in Wales, then we have a list of all those who visited in 2024, which can be found here.
