British holidaymakers with plans to visit Italy have been given an important new warning as the popular holiday destination is hit by floods.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) alerted Britons to severe weather and flooding across Italy.
The FCDO warned: “Severe weather and flooding is affecting many areas of Italy, particularly Emilia Romagna and Liguria. Rail services and roads may be affected.”

On October 21, the Prime Minister of Italy took to X with a statement on the extreme weather.
She expressed her condolences to the family of a man who passed away due to flooding in Pianoro, Bologna.
She shared that she remains in constant contact with Nello Musumeci, the Minister for Civil Protection and Sea Policies, and Fabio Ciciliano, Head of the Civil Protection Department, to monitor the situation and provide the necessary support.
This is the second travel warning Britons have been issued in recent days.
Holidaymakers were alerted to new requirements introduced for hotel check-ins.
