The January transfer window won’t open in Europe for another month, but there’s plenty of rumours and gossip swirling around the continent already.

Erik ten Hag is hoping to make significant changes to his squad this winter, with the Dutchman reportedly looking to sign as many as four players, including a defensive midfielder.

The departure gates at Old Trafford could be just as busy, with Raphael Varane and Donny van de Beek both expected to leave the club over the next two transfer windows.

Elsewhere, Fulham’s efforts to sign a Chelsea striker are set to be frustrated and Mikel Arteta has no intention to let Aaron Ramsdale leave Arsenal this season and Liverpool are interested in signing two Bundesliga stars

Manchester United are looking to strengthen in four positions in January, with Erik ten Hag looking to bring in a defensive midfielder as Sofyan Amrabat has underwhelmed since joining on loan from Fiorentina. (The Guardian)

Donny van de Beek is ready to leave Manchester United in January as he continues to remain on the fringes at Old Trafford. The Dutchman, who has made only six Premier League starts in three seasons, also revealed a move to Real Sociedad in  the summer fell through. (Diario AS – In Spanish)

Bayern Munich have discussed the possibility of signing Raphael Varane, but a deal for the Manchester United defender could prove complicated. The Frenchman has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and could be sold at the end of the season. (Sky Germany)

Erik ten Hag may have to wait until the summer to sign a new centre-back. United are monitoring Benfica defender Antonio Silva, along with Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo and Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen. (Fabrizio Romano)

United are also interested in Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, but the Serie A side want at least £30million for the 29-year-old. (Il Messaggero via Football Italia) 

Liverpool could miss out on signing Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, with Bayern Munich leading the race for the attacking midfielder, who has scored six goals and set up a further 10 in 18 games in all competitions so far. (Sky Germany)

Arsenal are prepared to let Aaron Ramsdale leave at the end of the season, but will not sell the England goalkeeper in January. (90min)

Juventus are interested in signing 21-year-old Heorhii Sudakov, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United. The Ukraine midfielder has 13 goals and 13 assists in 82 appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk. (Corriere dello Sport – in Italian)

Chelsea are yet to reach an agreement to sign Corinthians midfielder Gabriel Moscardo, with a move for the Brazilian not imminent. (Fabrizio Romano)

Paris Saint-Germain have also joined the race to sign the 18-year-old, but haven’t submitted a formal offer yet. Arsenal, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have all made enquiries for Moscardo, but did not make any bids. (ESPN)

Valencia and Real Sociedad are both monitoring Mason Greenwood after the former England international has impressed on loan at Getafe. (The Sun)
