Kim explained: “Healthy ageing can be achieved through maintaining good social connections, nutrition and physical activity.
“Supplements may help to play a role and here are some of the most useful to consider.
“Our joints, skin, cognitive abilities and immune function could perhaps benefit from a daily antioxidant supplement, which contains a blend of vitamins, such as A, C, E, and D, as well as minerals zinc, selenium and magnesium.”
These vitamins are important for health and we can get them through what we eat and drink.
Supplements can also help when Britons are not getting enough of these through diet. This could help with age-related health problems.
The expert added the gut plays a big part in general health and it is important to take care of this.
She continued: “Many age-related complaints are also associated with imbalances of the gut microbiota.
“As we age, the composition, diversity and function of our gut bacteria changes, with fewer beneficial Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli species.
