Police were called to a “violent road rage” incident outside a Tesco Extra in Manchester where a group of men “with weapons” appeared to surround two cars in broad daylight.

The altercation, which occurred on Stockport Road, Hattersley shortly before 1pm this afternoon, involved four men and resulted in the area being cordoned off.

Video footage circulating on social media appears to show men armed with weapons surrounding vehicles at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police attended, closing the road to both vehicles and pedestrians.

Officers said two men were treated at the scene.

Their injuries are not thought to be life changing or threatening.

Video footage of the incident reportedly shows two vehicles stopping in the middle of Stockport Road.

A group of individuals can be seen standing on the central reservation, allegedly armed with weapons, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Emergency services established a cordon on Stockport Road, at the junction of Underwood Road and Ashworth Lane.

Authorities are urging anyone with information or eyewitness accounts to come forward to assist with their enquiries.

In a statement the force said: “We are responding to a reported assault of two men on Stockport Road at 12.50pm today (Saturday 12 October 2024).

“The two men suffered minor injuries which are not thought to be life changing or threatening at this time, and were treated at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identities of those involved and the full circumstances.”
