Tesco has issued a product recall on a children’s toy that has been deemed unsafe to play with.

The CocoMelon JJ Interactive Learning Doll poses a choking hazard due to a manufacturing defect.

Carers of young ones should check their toy cupboards for the affected product.

They should ensure that children stop using it “immediately”. Instead, the product should be returned to a Tesco store.

Tesco said: “Just Play Products are recalling the CocoMelon JJ Interactive Learning Doll, due to the following manufacturing defect: if a child presses the sewn seams of the doll with enough force, the seams could give way.

“This means a child could access the stuffing material inside, which could present a choking hazard.

“If you have a CocoMelon JJ Interactive Learning Doll, please stop using it immediately. Instead, please return it to a Tesco store for a refund. No receipt is required. Use our store locator to find your nearest UK Tesco.”

Customers who require further information were advised to contact Just Play at customerservice@justplayproducts.com. Alternatively, they can call 0800 102 6885.

Customers can also contact Tesco Customer Services directly at 0800 505 555.”

This comes as Tesco issued an urgent food recall as one snack could pose a “life-threatening” health risk.

Affected customers include those with an allergy, intolerance or sensitivity to peanuts.

Most allergic reactions to peanuts are mild but they can also be moderate or severe, according to Allergy UK.
