A teenager has tragically died after he collapsed at a school football game on Tuesday evening.
The 15-year-old was a Year 11 student at Sale High School and was attending a match between his own school and Ashton on Mersey School in Cheshire.
The report said that the young boy died “despite all the efforts of the staff and the emergency services”, which was detailed in reports seen by the Manchester Evening News.
Offering their “thoughts and condolences” to the boy’s family and friends, the leaders of the school said that they announced his death with “deep sadness”.

Head of Ashton on Mersey School Lee McConaghie wrote to parents, saying: “It is with deep sadness that I write to you with information about a serious incident that took place at Ashton on Mersey School on Tuesday evening.
“During a Year 11 football match a pupil from Sale High School collapsed.
“I have subsequently been informed that the pupil has tragically died despite all the efforts of the staff and the emergency services.
“The thoughts and condolences of the Ashton on Mersey School community are with the family and friends of the pupil.”

“We recognise that this will be especially challenging for many of our pupils and intensive support is in place for those closest to the incident.
“Should any other pupils feel distressed, or if they simply need someone to talk to, they should contact a Head of Year and additional pastoral support will be provided.”
Sale High School informed parents and students that extra-curricular sports activities have been cancelled for the remainder of the week.
The student has not been named.

Sale High School is a co-educational establishment in Greater Manchester for pupils aged between 11 and 16.
Ashton on Mersey School, on the other hand, accepts students up to 18, and is located in Cheshire.
