Sydney Sweeney shares terrifying video of huntsman spider biting her in Australia: ‘I’m gonna die!’

Sydney Sweeney was left terrified after revealing she was bitten by a spider on the set of her new Australia-set film.

The 26-year-old actor appeared on US chat show The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon where she revealed her screams for a scene in the romantic comedy Anything But You were real due to the arachnid attack.

Sweeney told Fallon, 49, that for the comic scene she had to shriek as a spider crawled up her arm – but when cameras started rolling, the “trained” insect sunk its fangs into her flesh, sparking “serious” screaming.

“We were filming, and the thing starts biting me, but we are in the middle of the scene and I’m supposed to be screaming, but then my screaming got a little serious,” she said.

Sweeney added none of the crew realised what was happening as they believed she “was making really dramatic” acting choices, but her co-star Glen Powell, 35, knew something was not quite right.

She said: “No one cut. I’m just standing there with a spider on my arm just biting me and I’m screaming and everyone’s watching.“Glen was the only one – he was like, ‘Woah, woah, woah, I think this is a little real’ and we had to cut.”

Euphoria star Sweeney, who will ironically play Spider-Woman in Sony’s forthcoming Madame Web, dramatically added: “That was like a soul scream. I thought I was gonna die.”

Sweeney’s encounter with the insect was not the only danger encountered by the Anyone But You cast.According to Top Gun: Maverick actor Powell he “almost died falling off a cliff taking my pants off too fast”.

The film’s production has been riddled with drama, from injuries to dating rumours. Fans previously speculated Sweeney and Powell were romantically involved, despite the fact the star was in a relationship.

In response to the claims, Sweeney told Variety: “It’s a romcom. That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker”.

Powell stoked the rumours by telling Entertainment Tonight: “This movie has felt like a rom-com in itself because Sydney is very easy to pretend fall in love with.”

Anything But You follows Bea (Sweeney) and Ben (Powell) who, after a waning attraction to one another, find themselves having to pretend to be the ideal couple at a wedding in America.

Based on Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, the movie, out on Boxing Day, was directed by Will Gluck, 45, whose previous credits includes Friends with Benefits, starring Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake.
