As more and more people looking for ways to retain their youthful complexion, supplementation may help.
Speaking to GB News, a nutrition coach explained that hyaluronic supplements may be the missing element in many people’s anti-ageing regimen.
Patrick Farrell explained: “When you consume collagen protein, your digestive system will generally break it down into its constituent amino acids.
“So as long as you are getting enough protein in general, you are providing your body with the necessary building blocks for collagen in the skin.”

While there is evidence that collagen supplements can offer benefits for skin rejuvenation, users should remain realistic about their benefits.
The digestive tract comprises collagen transporters that enable proteins to cross intact, explaining why hydrolysed collagen peptides are considered the optimal supplementation, rather than standard collagen proteins.
Another, if not arguably better, option in terms of anti-ageing supplements is hyaluronic acid supplements, according to Patrick.
He explained: “Hyaluronic acid is a component of the skin and connective tissue, and effectively works to trap moisture.
“Hyaluronic acid is a component of skin and connective tissue and effectively works to trap moisture.
“Hyaluronic acid supplementation is very effective at reducing wrinkles, reducing wrinkle depth by 18.8%” added the expert, quoting one study published in the European Journal of Dermatology.
“Your gut bacteria do break down oral hyaluronic acid into low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, so I generally recommend that people take the low molecular weight form.”
According to Patrick, wrinkle reduction with collagen peptide supplementation generally falls between seven and 12 per cent.
“For sure, that’s is a nice win, but it isn’t going to exactly turn the clock back 20 years,” he explained.
For those considering supplementation, the results can be expected within four to eight weeks of consistent use.
“For most people, the benefits are only going to be rather small, but there does seem to be a noticeable difference.”
One skin care enthusiast named Mila recently shared that she uses a supplement blend containing biotin, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to look decades younger.
