Those travelling in and out of Spain next week could be hit with delays or flight cancellations.

This comes as workers plan strike action across the country on December 5 and 10.

These dates are prominent as many will be planning to travel for Spain’s national holidays on December 6 and 8.

The strike is led by union members at the airport management company AENA, who is calling for better working conditions.

Some 35,000 flights could be affected in Spain on the strike dates although the extent of the disruptions is not known.

Holidaymakers could see their flights delayed or even cancelled if the strikes go ahead as planned.

There are more than 40 Spanish airports operated by AENA that are most likely to be affected.

This does not include Madrid’s main airport, Adolfo Suarez Madrid–Barajas Airport.

Britons are urged to check with their travel provider if jetting off next week

PA

Strikes could be called off if an agreement is reached with AENA bosses before next week.

British airlines have not given updates to say any specific flights will be disrupted.

Holidaymakers set to travel on the strike dates to the airports should check with their travel provider for more updates.

The UK Government shared similar advice. It said: “Check with your airline, tour operator or transport company whether there is any planned strike action which might disrupt your journey.”
