Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh has been slammed as “casually bigoted” in a scathing insult by Omid Scobie.
The royal author’s new book Endgame is due to be released in the UK tomorrow, however, extracts from the book are already being released in Australia.
In one passage, Scobie wrote about the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh “screwing up” in their comments after Meghan Markle’s Oprah Winfrey interview.
The Duchess of Sussex sat down for an explosive interview with the TV personality in 2021, where Prince Harry also appeared towards the end.

In 2021, Sophie and Edward sat down for an interview with The Telegraph after the Sussexes spoke with Winfrey.
The Edinburghs shared a laugh over the controversial TV special, in what was Sophie and Edward’s first joint interview since their wedding in 1999.
The couple joked “Oprah who?” when quizzed about watching Meghan and Harry’s interview.
Sophie and Edward also quipped: “What interview?”
The duchess added: “You know, if you’re not into chat shows, there’s no reason why you should know who she is.
“Certainly not this country, anyway.”
In Endgame, Scobie referred to Sophie and Edward’s interview, and wrote: “The comments about the world’s most successful black woman and one of the biggest faces in entertainment made them seem stuffy or tine-eared at best, and casually bigoted at worst.”
He continued: “What may seem like a trivial episode by itself, Sophie’s Oprah gaffe is yet another page to add to the history of recent screw-ups.”

Scobie claims Sophie ignored Meghan at the late Queen’s funeral

The author claimed these comments from Sophie and Edward were further evidence that the monarchy is an “intolerant organisation steeped in bigotry and privilege”.
Scobie further claimed that Sophie “noticeably” ignored Meghan outside Westminster Abbey at the late Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral.
According to the author, Queen Camilla and Kate also ignored the Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan received “snubs and brush-offs” and was victim to “the same old power trips” during her stay, Scobie suggested.
