- Sky Brown has dislocated her shoulder in the build-up to her Olympics event
- The skateboarder became GB’s youngest medalist aged 13 in Tokyo in 2021
- The 16-year-old still hopes to be fit enough to compete on Tuesday
Sky Brown has dislocated her shoulder just days before the women’s park skateboarding – but still intends to compete in the event next week.
The skateboarder became Great Britain’s youngest-ever medalist in Tokyo three years ago when she claimed bronze aged 13 years and 28 days.
She suffered the dislocation on Sunday on the eve of travelling to Paris.
The 16-year-old is being attended to by the team’s doctors and physios in a bid to be ready for Tuesday’s event at La Concorde.
Brown has had to recover from a knee injury in the build-up to competing after she tore the medial collateral ligament in her knee during a film shoot in April.

Brown is ranked fourth in the world and has shwon resilience in coming back from a knee injury
The teenage sensation finished second in the women’s park event at the Olympic Qualifier Series in Budapest to secure her place in Paris.
That came on the back of missing the first qualifier due to her injury.
Every injury I’ve had, I’ve come back stronger,’ Brown told NBC at the time.
‘So this is just my time to really think about what I want to do next. It really puts a fire in my heart – it happens, it is part of life.
‘Since the last Olympics, I’ve won every event and I don’t want to lose that streak.
‘So I’m going to keep going. I’m going to try to get gold in every event, especially the Olympics.’
Brown is a huge hope for a gold medal having won the 2023 World Skateboarding Championship.
The star, who only turned 15 in July, shared her excitement for the Olympics in a recent series of photographs on Instagram.

The teenage star is also highly adept at surfing and almost qualified for the Games in that sport
Sharing photos since 2021 to chart her journey to the present day, she wrote to her 1.3million followers: ‘What a journey, I’m thankful for every moment along the way, everything and everyone and all the memories.
‘Now for the fun part… LET’S GO PARIS 2024!!!!’
Ranked fourth in the world, Brown only has Kokona Hiraki, Arisa Trew, and Sakura Yosozumi ahead of her.
Brown had also hoped to book her place at Paris 2024 in a second sport, surfing, but just missed out on qualification at the World Surfing Games in March.
‘I’m going to be surfing every day when I’m better,’ added Brown. ‘I missed it so much.’
