Sarah Ferguson has revealed she is eager to join the cast of Netflix hit Bridgerton, telling ITV’s Lorraine she has already discussed the possibility with show creator Shonda Rhimes.

The Duchess of York, 64, appeared on the morning programme today, where she enthusiastically declared: “I am game on for Bridgerton. I have told Shonda Rhimes, I said Shonda ‘I am coming in’.”

The former wife of Prince Andrew made her intentions clear during the broadcast, dismissing suggestions of appearing on Coronation Street in favour of the period drama.

Ferguson’s announcement comes as she shared the Lorraine sofa with Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor, whose daughter Phoebe played the lead role of Daphne in Bridgerton’s first season.

During their joint appearance, Dynevor playfully hinted at her connections to the show, responding to Ferguson’s Bridgerton ambitions with: “I might know somebody, who might know somebody.”

The two women have formed a close friendship since meeting on Loose Women earlier this year, dubbing themselves ‘NBF’s new best friends’.

Their bond extends beyond television aspirations, as both serve as patrons of the charity Prevent Breast Cancer.

The cause holds personal significance for both women, with Ferguson having undergone successful treatment for breast cancer in 2023 following a routine mammogram.

Dynevor, who plays Sally Metcalfe in Coronation Street, also faced her own breast cancer diagnosis in 2009 at age 46.

Together, they are working to raise funds for a new centre to train radiologists, aiming to increase breast cancer screening capacity.

This is not the first time Ferguson has expressed interest in joining the Netflix series. In June, she revealed to Platinum Magazine that she had been in talks with her agent about securing a role.

“I’ve asked my agent to get me on Bridgerton! The set designs are incredible! I could be a long-lost friend for Penelope,” she told the magazine.

The Duke of Sussex’s next project titled Polo will be released on December 10.

It is the latest in a series of projects for the streaming services after signing a lucrative joint deal with Netflix in 2020.

The Sussexes’ debut series Harry & Meghan was a huge hit on the streaming platform and broke several Netflix records.

Meghan Markle will feature in a cookery programme on the platform in 2025.
