Russell Howard has claimed Tyson Fury was ‘obsessed’ with Jennifer Lopez when the boxing star appeared on his show just over five years ago.
Fury appeared on The Russell Howard Hour to discuss his mental health battle, having impressed on his return to the sport against Deontay Wilder in 2018.
The boxing star is a larger-than-life character and Howard now claims he was obsessed with Lopez, having believed the comedian was a ‘gateway’ to making contact with the 55-year-old.
Speaking on the Have a Word podcast, Howard said: “Tyson Fury came on my show and was like ‘do you JLO?’. I was like ‘no’.

“‘What the heck am I here for?’. To talk about your life?”
Howard then says that Fury wanted to go through his phone to make sure he was being truthful – and wasn’t happy when he came across a contact named ‘Greg’ instead.
The 44-year-old added: “And he was like ‘somebody told me you knew JLO. Give me your phone’.
“So I kind of get my phone out and he’s like ‘there’s nobody famous.’ And he’s like ‘whose f*****g Greg?”

“It’s my mate Greg. ‘Does he know JLO?’ No one knows JLO, you f*****g maniac.
“Somehow, he thought that I was his gateway to Jennifer Lopz.
“But that thing, you’ve never been aware of somebody who is 6ft7 (Fury is actually 6ft9) until you’re going ‘I don’t know, I don’t know.”
Meanwhile, Tyson is currently spending some time with his family – having lost to Oleksandr Usyk for a second time last month.

The heavyweight star went into the bout looking for revenge after losing to the 37-year-old back in May.
But while Fury performed well, he ended up losing via unanimous decision – much to his dismay.
The 36-year-old was visibly furious when the verdict was announced and stormed out of the ring at the Kingdom Arena.
He later accused the judges of giving Usyk a ‘Christmas gift’ and kept his cards close to his chest when quizzed on his future.

His promoter, Frank Warren, has since told the Daily Star that Fury has earned the right to decide his next move.
“I will not be picking up the phone and asking Tyson Fury to fight again,” he said.
“If opportunities come my way for him they will be passed on, but there will be no advice from me on whether or not Tyson should take them.
“I haven’t spoken to him yet about an Anthony Joshua fight and I will only do so if he comes to me and says he wants to get in the ring with him.”

Talk of Fury potentially facing Anthony Joshua has rumbled on for years.
But whether that showdown finally materialises this year remains to be seen.
