Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has unveiled a unique Phantom Extended to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the James Bond film Goldfinger which pays homage to the 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville featured in the movie.

The bespoke creation incorporates some of the most extensively engineered features ever applied to a Rolls-Royce, with each element linking to the film’s plot and iconography.

Developed over three years, the car boasts intricate details such as a sculptural Gallery inspired by the Furka Pass scene and a gold golf putter mounted in the boot, recalling Auric Goldfinger’s first encounter with James Bond.

The exterior of this commemorative Phantom Extended pays meticulous attention to detail. Rolls-Royce paint specialists precisely matched the yellow hue to the original 1937 Phantom III from the film.

A unique long-side two-tone design features a black finish wrapping around the coachwork as a single, uninterrupted graphic.

The 21-inch disc wheels are finished in black with silver floating hubcaps, echoing the 1937 motor car’s wheel design.

The Spirit of Ecstasy figurine received a special treatment, subtly referencing the film’s plot, with sections of the solid silver figurine appearing to reveal gold underneath.

This effect was achieved by skilfully gold-plating the silver figurine with 18-carat gold, a nod to Goldfinger’s gold smuggling scheme in the film.

Commenting on the creation, Chris Brownridge, Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said: “This particular project really invigorated our team of creatives, giving them the freedom to explore the reaches of their imagination.

“The final creation is a testament to the power of collaboration and the extraordinary ability of our designers, craftspeople, and engineers.”

The interior of the Phantom Goldfinger showcases hidden gold elements, paying tribute to the film’s iconic villain. A hidden vault in the centre console houses an illuminated solid 18-carat gold bar shaped like a Phantom Speedform.

Gold finishes adorn the base of the front and rear centre consoles, the glovebox interior, air vents, and organ stops throughout the car.

The glovebox lid features Goldfinger’s famous quote: “This is Gold, Mr. Bond. All my life, I have been in love with its colour, its brilliance, its divine heaviness.”

The Phantom Goldfinger boasts several special features that pay homage to the film. A gold-plated putter, reminiscent of Goldfinger’s club, is mounted on the boot lid, complete with an AG monogram inspired by the villain’s signet ring.

Even the number plate, AU 1, references the chemical symbol for gold and matches the plate from the film.

Boris Weletzky, Regional Director, United Kingdom, Europe and Central Asia, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, added: “Witnessing how our Bespoke Collective seized upon the idea of celebrating 60 years of the film has been truly remarkable; this fantastic story has been masterfully explored in Phantom Goldfinger’s exquisite design.
