A 38-year-old man has been stabbed to death in a street disturbance, prompting a murder inquiry.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the victim was found with a severe knife wound in Sussex Street, Rochdale, at about 02:30 GMT.

He died at the scene “despite the best attempts of emergency services”, the force said.

Another man, aged 30, was also seriously injured but the extent of his injuries was “still unknown as he receives treatment at hospital but is currently in a stable condition”, police added.
