Lamine Yamal continues to make waves in the footballing world with his stunning performances at Euro 2024 for Spain.
The 16-year-old scored a wondergoal that proved to be decisive in La Roja’s 2-1 semi-final victory over France on Tuesday as the Barcelona star became the youngest ever scorer at a European Championship.
The sky seems to be the limit for the winger, but he has been conspicuous by his absence on the video game, EA FC 24.
Despite starring for both the Catalan giants and his national team, Yamal is not available to use for players in the virtual world, leading to questions as to why this is the case.
However, Yamal’s absence is due to the fact he is just 16-years-old as EA Sports are reported to have a loose rule which prevents players who are younger than 17 from appearing on the game.

The Barcelona winger is prevented from appearing as he does not turn 17 until this weekend
This means he is not in EA FC 24’s career mode or online gaming options, with a similar fate taking place with young stars of the past.
For example, on FIFA 23, PSG star Warren Zaire-Emery wasn’t available to use from its launch as he didn’t turn 17 until March 2023, while the same applied to Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko back on FIFA 22.
However, this suggests that Yamal could be added once he turns 17, with his birthday this Saturday.
This means players may soon be able to use the starlet, although there is a chance they could still have to wait until EA FC 25.
Meanwhile, although Yamal doesn’t feature in the main edition of EA FC 24, he is available to use in the Euro 2024 mode on the game, providing a consolation for fans.
This is all the more important given that even if Yamal is added in a new update, he would not be available to use in Ultimate Team.
A similar fate happened to PSG’s Warren Zaire-Emery who was 16 when FIFA 23 was released
Elsewhere, along with previous examples of Zaire-Emery and Moukoko, other video games have had the problem of incorporating young talents.
For example, back in 2014 popular series Football Manager had to ask Martin Odegaard’s father for permission to add him into the game when he was just 15.
However, Yamal is available to use for those who play Football Manager 24.
