Experiencing new cultures, trying different food and exploring beautiful landscapes make most holidaymakers happy.

But there are certain destinations where tourists feel the most joyful, according to a new report.

G Adventures’ Happiness List 2026 identified the 10 different experiences and locations that fill travellers with happiness.

The tour group company surveyed 8,000 adults who plan to travel next year from the UK, Ireland, America, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

Guatemala proved to be a popular spot for making memories and delving into the country’s culture and food scene.

A colder destination, the Arctic was also mentioned on the report. Travellers enjoy  taking in the icy views and exploring on expedition cruises.

Elsewhere, Ecuador, in South America, gives tourists the chance to experience the jungle first-hand.

What’s more, it’s a great place to try the local chocolate, with the country being a big producer of cocoa.

San Blas Islands, off Panama’s Caribbean coast, is another location that fills holidaymakers with happiness and consists of around 378 islands and cays.

There are miles of sandy beaches to relax on that are scattered with palm trees and coral reefs.

Seeing wildlife in Africa up close proved to be another popular activity, according to G Adventures.

Witnessing an eclipse was also mentioned by travellers as a top experience and they may be able to see one as early as next year.

For the first time in 100 years, a solar eclipse is expected to be visible from Spain on August 12 at 8pm.

The spectacular natural phenomenon will occur from Galicia to Mallorca, according to Majorca Daily Bulletin.

Sri Lanka’s bountiful coast is worth exploring by boat, too and is brimming with wildlife and plenty of villages to stop by along the way.
