Mohamed Salah is believed to earn over £300,000 per week at Liverpool after signing a contract making him the club’s best-paid player in 2022.

Salah had put pen to paper after a lengthy stand-off but finds himself in an identical situation this season, claiming there are no new offers to stay on the table.

The forward conducted a rare interview with Mail Sport and a small group of other reporters after scoring twice in the 3-2 victory at Southampton.

He revealed that no progress has been made on an extension, meaning he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs from the start of January. It is understood, however, that Liverpool have made contact with his agent.

Anfield sources have suggested those talks over a new deal have been positive.

The financials involved in any potential extension are unknown but it is believed Salah is currently banking around £300k a week under his current terms.

But his future at Anfield is uncertain after he claimed no new offers to stay have been made

Salah, the highest-paid player in the Reds’ history, scored twice in the win at Southampton

According to Spotrac, Salah’s previous £200k weekly wage was boosted to around £350k in 2022, taking his overall yearly salary to just over £18million.

His long-time advisor, Ramy Abbas Issa, suggested last year that image rights and commercial activities top up his combined earnings to around £1m a week.

In a study published by Harvard Business School, Issa also estimated that Salah’s total earnings were between £46.8m and £53.7m-a-year.

As reported by Mail Sport, Liverpool turned down a lucrative £150m bid from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad in 2023. On that occasion, the Reds were unable to compete with a jaw-dropping tax-free salary of £1.25m-a-week on offer from the club.

Addressing his contract stand-off on Sunday, Salah said: ‘We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club.

‘I’m probably more out than in.

‘You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.

‘I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands.’

Asked if he was disappointed about the lack of progress, Salah added: ‘Of course, yeah. I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well.

‘I’m disappointed but we will see.

‘I am very professional. Everybody can see my work ethic. I’m just trying to enjoy my football and I will play at the top level as long as possible.’
