Tom Parker Bowles, Queen Camilla’s son, was told by his doctor to “f*** off” after he requested the popular weight loss drug Ozempic.

The 49-year-old food critic said that he was met with the expletive after he asked for the medicine, which is usually prescribed to people with diabetes.

The son of the Queen and her ex-husband Andrew Parker Bowles, has recently published a new book titled Cooking and the Crown.

In an interview with British Vogue following its publication, the 49-year-old opened up about his weight loss struggles.

Recalling a conversation with his doctor, he said: “I’m far too old to care about this sort of thing, but I went to my doctor the other day, who I love, and I said, ‘Can I have some Ozempic please?’ He just went, ‘Fuck off’.”

The doctor continued: “‘You’re a food writer. All these excess calories are coming from booze.’”

Parker Bowles had decided to cut out drinking entirely amid concerns about his weight. He then allowed himself to drink four days a week, and increased the amount he exercised.

However, his doctor said: “It’s the other four days I’m worried about,” when the 49-year-old professed: “But I don’t drink three days a week!”.

It was determined that the amount of rose he was drinking during summer was the same as eating almost 20 burgers.

Ozempic, the drug Parker Bowles unsuccessfully requested, is not licensed in the UK for weight loss.

Semaglutides – the active ingredient found in the medicine – are prescribed to people with type 2 diabetes in order lower their blood sugar levels.

These medicines are shown to suppress appetite in addition to lowering blood sugar levels, and therefore are being increasingly prescribed for weight loss in some countries.

Promoting his new book, Parker Bowles discussed his own mother’s supposed reputation for drinking with The Times.

He said: “Oh, you know she has that reputation of drinking gin and smoking? Never drunk a glass of gin in her life. Doesn’t smoke.”

Parker Bowles said the rumours likely came from the portrayal of Camilla in the Channel 4 sitcom The Windsors.

The 49-year-old said that he watched the show and loved Harry Enfield, who played King Charles, adding that Haydn Gwynne, who played Camilla was brilliant.

Parker Bowles continued: “Yes. She was really brilliant.

“But my mother hardly drinks. Never seen her so much as tipsy.”
