Queen Camilla has been defended by royal biographer Angela Levin after broadcaster Channel 4 labelled the monarch as the “wicked stepmother” in a new documentary.
The programme, which aired at the weekend, detailed how the now Queen “transformed her image” from the “most hated woman in Britain” to a “national treasure”.
The documentary also claimed that the term “wicked stepmother” was used by Prince Harry, and her success within the Royal Family came “at his expense”.
Discussing the documentary, of which she also featured, biographer Angela Levin admitted she was “shocked” by how the Queen was portrayed in the programme, and claimed she believed the documentary had different intentions when she filmed it.

Levin explained: “It’s very interesting because I was in it a well over a year ago, and it was just because I had done this biography of Camilla, and I was supposed to talk about her generally.
“So it was a shock – I was shocked when it was all full of them trying to make her out to be very nasty.”
Highlighting an “important factor” which was missing from the documentary, Levin told GB News that the programme did not disclose what Camilla and Prince Harry’s relationship was “really like”.
Levin said: “There was no chance to ever say what her relationship was like with Harry, and what they’d done for her.

“For example, soon after Diana died, Charles was going to make a beautiful party, and Camilla was going to be the star of it because she’s been so marvellous to him, he’s so happy. And then it sort of changed with Harry, but not with William.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
“Camilla gets on also very, very well with Catherine and helped her to understand the way you needed to be in the palace, because it’s very difficult.”
Comparing Camilla’s relationship with William to Harry, Levin claimed that whilst William has been “grateful” to her, Harry has a “nasty feeling”, particularly on her relationship with the press.
Levin told GB News: “William was incredibly grateful, so he wasn’t so negative about her. But, Harry, I think he’s just got a very nasty feeling about everyone and about the press.
“I think that she feels that the press have to do their job, but she doesn’t give away anything, she’s quite careful about that. And I think that that’s what Harry was upset about.”

Throwing her support being Camilla, Levin declared that the Queen is a “marvellous” woman and has a “very easy flow”, disagreeing with the documentary’s portrayal.
Levin concluded: “I spent a year with her when I was writing her biography, and I thought she was wonderful.
“She’s a marvellous woman, and also she’d never wanted to have a career, but she started to work with charities for the King, because she didn’t want to just hang around, she wanted to help him.
“She’s come up with the most wonderful projects about violence at home and literacy, which has done amazingly well all around the world.”
