Food products are recalled when they pose a threat to the health or safety of consumers.
Four foods have been recalled as they could contain ingredients not listed, including a curry sold in Sainsbury’s.
Sainsbury’s shoppers have been asked to check if they have bought certain packs of Merchant Gourmet Black Dhal with Black Lentils & Coconut Cream.
This is because they may have been contaminated with peanuts, making them unsafe for anyone with an allergy to consume.

Sainsbury’s stated: “Merchant Gourmet is taking the precautionary step of recalling the above date codes of 250g pouches of Black Dhal with Black Lentils & Coconut Cream sold in stores across the UK. The decision has been taken due to the potential cross-contamination of peanuts in the mustard seed.
“If you have one of the products detailed above, please return it to your local Sainsbury’s store for a full refund. You do not need a receipt. Alternatively, you can contact the Merchant Gourmet consumer care team at customerservice@merchant-gourmet.com
“No other Merchant Gourmet products, date codes or best before dates are affected. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
Other products were also included as part of the same recall as they can be bought online or in small stores across the UK.
