Britons should check their homes for a household appliance that poses a safety risk.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) shared that some batches of Philips Pressurized Steam Generator could burn users.

‘The product presents a risk of burns to the user’
OPSS
The OPSS stated: “The product presents a risk of burns to the user as it has been identified that the welding seam of the boiler can split open.
“The failure of the welding seam leads to the escape of hot steam which can burn the user.
“The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
“The product has been recalled from end users. A modification programme is underway for repairs and refunds.

Philips’ recall notice read: “This action is taken due to an identified manufacturing issue in the welding of the boiler that generates the steam in the steam system, which may result in injuries like burns or impact-related injuries.
“We have made the decision to recall these products because the safety of our consumers is of the utmost importance to us.”
Customers who have purchased the affected products (with the specific model and batch number) can register for a free-of-charge repair on the website.
Philips apologised to customers for any inconvenience the recall may cause. Shoppers were also told how to proceed to ensure their safety.
The company said: “We ask that you immediately stop using the product.” Affected shoppers should unplug the product from the mains outlet, let the product cool down, register their details and ensure their product is packed and ready for pickup.
