OPSS

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) told Britons: “The product has been assessed as presenting a serious risk of drowning as the buoyancy aid was not accompanied with any minimum or maximum sizing limits.

“The product was not supplied with the required compliance documentation or markings to be used correctly by a consumer, potentially resulting in a risk of drowning.

“The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment or the Personal Protective Equipment (Enforcement) Regulations 2018.

“OPSS has required the recall of the product from end users. The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (Amazon).”

Product recalls must be taken seriously to ensure the safety of customers. Parents and carers were recently warned that a children’s product presents a “risk of injuries”.

The OPSS revealed that a car seat base has an installation error that could “potentially result in the seat dislodging from the base”.

The OPSS said: “Should the seat detach from the base whilst in use or during a car accident, there is an increased risk that the user could sustain injuries.”

Britons have also been warned as food products are pulled from shelves.

Shoppers were alerted that 14 spice products pose a health risk that could be “life-threatening” in some cases.

The spice products may contain peanuts, which are not mentioned on the label. This means that they are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.
