Princess Eugenie set to ‘support’ Princess Beatrice as she is dragged into royal storm

Princess Eugenie is set to “support” Princess Beatrice as she weathers a royal storm, according to an insider.

Princess Beatrice, 35, will be depicted in a three-part royal TV series on Amazon Prime later this year, alongside her father Prince Andrew.

The series, titled A Very Royal Scandal, will recreate Prince Andrew’s infamous Newsnight interview from 2019 where he discussed his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.

This programme comes as rival streaming platform Netflix already produced a film about the car crash interview earlier this month, titled Scoop.

Actress Charity Wakefield played Princess Beatrice in Scoop, showing the royal accompanying the Duke of York for a meeting with the Newsnight team.

However, Beatrice is set to feature much more in the upcoming three-part Amazon Prime series.

Emily Maitlis, who conducted the interview with Prince Andrew in 2019, is serving as executive producer of the project.

Royal sources claimed that Princess Beatrice is “dreading” the upcoming programme.

They said: “Bea is dreading the release of Emily’s version of events because she thinks she will feature more heavily in it.

“She believes it will stir everything up for no reason and nobody will let her live it down. To say she is upset is an understatement – she’s devastated.”

A Very Royal Scandal will star Ruth Wilson as Maitlis and Michael Sheen as the Duke of York.

The source added: “Bea feels unfairly targeted. She’s so upset by all of this. She adores her father but didn’t want to be dragged into this so publicly.

“Bea feels like this has set her back a few steps just as everything was going right for her within the Royal Family.”

Many commentators have suggested that Beatrice and Eugenie could be enlisted as working royals amid the current shortages in the Firm.

The source continued to tell OK!: “Beatrice is luckily a very resilient young woman. She is trying her very best to stay focused and weather the storm, but it’s been tough for her.

“Eugenie and her close friends have been there for support and she’s putting on a very brave face. Both girls [Beatrice and Eugenie] wish the whole thing would just go away but fear they could be tarred with this brush for the rest of their lives. It’s difficult to see them like this.”
