In a video clip, Eugenie said: “54 percent of people in the whole world who are trafficked are women and girls.”

In separate posts on her charity’s Instagram story, she wrote: “Women and girls account for 99 percent of victims in the commercial sex industry and 58 percent in other sectors.”

She added: “Modern slavery is driven by power imbalances, which, for women and girls, are exacerbated by gender inequality and discrimination.”

She commented: “Modern Day Slavery won’t disappear without us all coming together.
