Future royal plans could see Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis “renting a flat in Shoreditch” as members of the monarchy look to move away from the Palace, an author has claimed.
The Royal Family could opt to open their residences to the public to create more funds for the Royal collection, Kate Williams has suggested.
If more royal buildings are opened to the public, “minor royals” would potentially need to move amid King Charles’s plans for a slimmed-down monarchy, Williams explained.
Historically, Queens have preferred palaces as their residence, while Kings have often seen them as “stages for brilliance”.
“On one hand, these palaces are great homes being conserved for future generations.
“On the other hand, they generate a lot of income for the royal collection and are great to visit,” Williams told Hello!
“We understand that King Charles is aiming for a slimmed-down Royal Family, so it means [minor royals] may have to go and live in non-palaces.
“He doesn’t really live in Buckingham Palace at the moment, he’s renovating it and using it more as an office.”

She added: “And it will be interesting to see how Prince William might approach them if he still has children living with him.
“Maybe in the future we’ll see Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis getting a flat in Shoreditch together.”
Clarence House has been used by the King and Queen as their London home.
While their official country residence is Windsor Castle.

The residence is open to the public for visits, while Buckingham Palace is also partially available for palace tours.
Other royals including The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke and Duchess of Kent and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent live in the palace’s Royal apartments.
The Royal Family has a total of 30 residences.
