Princess Beatrice wiped away tears during an emotional virtual engagement as she became visibly moved.

The Princess of York joined her sister Princess Eugenie and their mother Sarah Ferguson on a video call to celebrate three Teenage Cancer Trust fundraisers.

Beatrice, Eugenie and Fergie are all long-term honorary patrons of the charity.

The Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT), founded by Adrian and Myrna Whiteson, was created to bridge the gap between paediatric and adult cancer care.

The Trust now operates 28 specialised units across the country, ensuring young people with cancer receive treatment in age-appropriate settings.

These units prevent teenagers from being placed in either children’s wards or adult cancer facilities.

Within these units, teenagers can access gaming consoles and dedicated hang-out areas, making the environment feel more like home.

Regular pizza nights and social spaces allow young patients to connect with peers who understand their cancer journey.

TCT’s chief executive Kate Collins said on the call: “The care that Teenage Cancer Trust nurses and youth teams provide is only made possible by remarkable fundraisers.”

“Every single penny that everyone gives is what makes our work happen.”

Some people on the call were visibly moved by her words, including Princess Beatrice.

Collins said: “I’m sorry I seem to have upset people on the call.”

Beatrice said while wiping away tears: “Totally the opposite, I’m inspired. I am pregnant so I cry at absolutely everything.”

The Princess of York is expecting her second child with her husband Edoardo Mappelli Mozzi in Spring.

Sarah Ferguson provided an insight into how she and her daughters became involved with the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The Duchess of York said: “I went to TCT founders Adrian and Myrna and I said, ‘Please can I become a patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust?’ That was in 1990. Every single hospital the TCT opened a ward in – Middlesex was the first – I was there.

“Then I realised, actually, for the girls’ 18th birthdays I would take them to the Teenage Cancer Units.

“I do owe them something for their 18th birthdays, but I like to think I gave them an understanding of humility and how kindness is the best gift you can give anyone.

“Look, listen, learn, show up, and amplify. The sense of purpose, that’s what I believe in.”
