Princess Anne has made an exciting announcement after suffering a royal “snub”.

The social media page UK Coaching issued a statement announcing The Princess Royal, 74, will be attending an upcoming glitzy engagement at Buckingham Palace.

The account wrote: “Together with @uk_sport we are delighted to announce a special event at Buckingham Palace hosted by our Patron HRH The Princess Royal.

“The event, in October, will celebrate the coaches behind Great Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes.”

This announcement comes shortly after Lady Pamela Hicks, a lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth II, appeared to “snub” Princess Anne.

India Hicks, Lady Pamela’s daughter, claimed her mother is a strong proponent of a modernised monarchy.

Hicks told Marie Claire: “[My mother] thinks that it is modernising in a way that it should, and she absolutely believes in the thinning down of the Royal Family and making it this core hard-working foursome.”

The 57-year-old was referring to King Charles III, Queen Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales as the “hard-working foursome”.

In so doing, Hicks omitted Princess Anne, who is regularly referred to as the hardest-working member of the Royal Family.

In 2023, Princess Anne carried out the largest amount of royal engagements, carrying out a massive 457 duties.

The Princess Royal completed 32 more engagements than her older brother, King Charles, who only completed 425.

The mother-of-two looks set to defend her title again in 2024, after taking on engagements on behalf of her brother, King Charles, and Princess Kate, who both stepped back from public life earlier this year to undergo cancer treatment.

Princess Anne previously criticised the concept of a slimmed-down monarchy on CBC

Princess Anne previously criticised the concept of a slimmed-down monarchy during an interview with CBC.

Despite her brother, King Charles, supporting the proposal, she told the Canadian broadcaster back in May 2023 that the suggestion was made when there were “a few more people around”.

She added: “Well, I think the ‘slimmed-down’ (monarchy) was said in a day when there were a few more people around to make that seem like a justifiable comment.”

Her reference to “a few more people” led some to speculate that it was a swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who chose to step down as working royals in 2020, as well as Prince Andrew who withdrew from public life the year before.
