Princess Anne and Duchess of Edinburgh send message of royal unity amid King’s health concern

The King’s sister, Princess Anne and the Duchess of Edinburgh gave a touching nod to the King before his operation by wearing matching Christmas presents from Charles.

The Royal Family members have been seen wearing a £115 woven scarf from the Highgrove and Prince’s Foundation’s recent collaboration.

Last week it was announced that the King would attend hospital for corrective surgery on an enlarged prostate and will postpone royal engagements while he recovers.

One day after the announcement, Princess Anne draped the brown and black patterned scarf over her coat at the opening of the Institute for Regeneration and Repair South building at the University of Edinburgh.

The Princess Royal matched the scarf with a light brown winter jacker, dark brown leather gloves and a red turtleneck.

Anne opened the £110 million facility which hosts over 500 scientists researching medical conditions including lung cancer and reproductive health issues.

Yesterday, Sophie, Prince Edward’s wife, also wore the scarf during a visit to a school in East Dulwich.

At the event, the duchess paired the scarf with a black jacket, a bright blue shirt and suede boots.

Sophie helped host a workshop at the London school to raise awareness about menstrual issues and was informed about period poverty for girls in the UK.

The scarf is made from 100 percent ultrafine RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) Merino wool from Australia which is in keeping with the King’s stance on environmentalism.

The “warm honey” colour of the scarf was inspired by the Highgrove Gardens and the bee emblem represents the busy workforce of the Johnston of Elgin company.

The Princess Royal was also spotted wearing the scarf during the Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, Norfolk.

Both Anne and her husband, Sir Timothy Lawrence, wore the scarves as they walked to church alongside other members of the Royal Family.

The scarf is made in Elgin, Scotland and available to purchase from the Highgrove Gardens website for £115.

The scarf is only available for pre-order with expected delivery toward the end of April 2024.

Sophie and other members of the Royal Family continue to take on royal engagements as Kate, the King and William remain out of action.
