Prince William has “put family first” with his decision to step back from royal duties to support Princess Kate, a royal author has claimed.

Angela Levin joined Mark Dolan on GB News to speak on Kate’s admission to a private hospital for abdominal surgery.

Levin said that Kate’s health scare is “very worrying”, and that has been evidenced by William foregoing his royal duties for the coming weeks.

“It’s a long time, and you can see that there is concern because William is also not going to be doing any working”, she said.

“Not only is he visiting and looking after the children, he’s going to be very close to her once she gets home and be with her, which I think is a wonderful thing to do.

“To put the family first shows you just show important it is and how much he’s lost by the fact that his mother was so badly treated.”

Levin added that while Kate’s admission to hospital is concerning, we must not lose sight of the fact that she is a “strong” woman.

“She’s eaten well, she does a lot of sport, and she’s a strong woman”, she said.

“She has a busy life. She loves her family and she loves them so much and that will help her get well.

“She does have to take that time.”

Kate is said to be “doing well” but is not expected to return to official duties until after Easter.

The royals triggered a double health scare as within 90 minutes of the announcement regarding Kate, it was revealed the King was to be treated in hospital for an enlarged prostate.

The Queen is still carrying out engagements, joining the Princess Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra as the current working monarchy – with the latter two appearing increasingly frail in recent years.

Camilla insisted on Thursday that the King was “fine” and “looking forward to getting back to work”.
