Prince William issued a personally written statement on England’s “emotional rollercoaster” Euro 2024 win over Slovakia.
The Prince of Wales congratulated Gareth Southgate’s men after the Three Lions sealed their place in the quarter-finals of the Euros with a dramatic 2-1 win after extra time.
In a post on social media alongside a picture of Jude Bellingham kissing Harry Kane’s forehead, William wrote: “Emotional rollercoaster! Let’s go! Quarter finals here we come! W.”
Prince William, 42, is a keen football fan and President of the FA.

Captain Harry Kane headed the winning goal after a tense match against Slovakia.
England looked to be on the brink of a Euros exit before Bellingham scored a spectacular overhead kick in injury time.
Kane later delighted England fans, who made up the majority of the 60,000-capacity Arena AufSchalke, with the final goal, as the Three Lions turned the match on its head in 196 seconds.
England will play the quarter-final match against Switzerland on Saturday in Dusseldorf.
Last week, William flew out to Germany to watch England’s performance in a 1-1 draw with Denmark.
The future King gave the England squad some calming words of encouragement to lift the team’s spirits last Thursday.
England had been jeered off at half-time as they were losing 1-0 to Slovakia, who are ranked 45th in the world, 40 places below England.
There was disbelief from the crowd as Southgate sent the same 11 onto the field for the second half, with boos ringing out.

The mood dramatically changed with Bellingham’s overhead goal, which sent the game into extra-time, followed swiftly by Kane’s bullet header.
Supporters in the crowd included wives and girlfriends of the England players as well as celebrities like Ed Sheeran.
A victory for Southgate’s side means facing Switzerland in the quarter-finals next Saturday in Dusseldorf.
Switzerland triumphed in a 2-0 win over Italy on Sunday, the latter having previously beaten England on penalties in the Euro 2020 Final at Wembley.
