Prince William is battling with ‘underlying anxiety’ after his wife announced her cancer diagnosis, according to royal commentator Jennie Bond.

Speaking on GB News, the royal author had praise for the future King after he’d been ‘wrongly criticised’ in recent months for not carrying out as many public engagements.

Dawn Neesom asked Bond if William is concerned ‘history will repeat itself’ with reference to the ‘obviously different circumstances’ surrounding his mother’s death.

“It must be an underlying anxiety for him”, she said on GB News.

“If I was him, I’d be thinking ‘why me? This happened when I was 15 and now I don’t have my brother anymore, I don’t have my mother, I don’t have my brother. My father has cancer and now my wife, my darling wife, who is my rock and means everything to me and three children, why now?’

“He’s been quite wrongly criticised for perhaps not carrying out as many public engagements as people require of him.

“Well, we know why now. The poor chap obviously stayed silent about it.

“He carried on smiling, meeting, greeting, encouraging other people.

“He’s been supporting causes and with all this going on in the background, there’s incredible pressure on him.”

Kate, 42, revealed she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy in an emotional video message on Friday.

After weeks of intense speculation and wild conspiracy theories gathering pace on social media, the Princess of Wales broke her silence to address the public.

William is set to continue balancing supporting his wife and family and maintaining his official duties as he has done since her surgery in January.

The Prince is due to return to public duties after his children return to school after the Easter break.

He and his wife will not attend the Royal Family’s traditional Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel, which the King is hoping to go with the Queen if his health allows.

Charles has paused public-facing duties, and The Telegraph reports the event is not likely to be a large family gathering or service.

The King has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer since early February after he was treated for an enlarged prostate at the same hospital where Kate had abdominal surgery.
